Seeking to revitalise their space and expand the Californian Bungalow for their growing family, our client desired a renovation that maintained the original integrity of the front of the home, with a contemporary, light-filled escape at the rear of the property to complement their pool and garden.

The evolution of the front rooms was a delicate undertaking, where careful attention was paid to the retention and restoration of ceilings and cornice detailing to ensure the heritage character was preserved. Full height glazing enhanced the generous scale of the home, while encouraging natural light and ventilation.

The bungalow design comprised of a wide, open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, stretching across the eastern façade with a series of skylights and floor-to-ceiling glass to maximise solar access and minimize artificial lighting.
